Moose and Son Win Bass-Jons Nottoway River Tournament

Posted by Daniel Griffin on May 16, 2010

1st – Carlton “Moose” Wells and Joseph Wells

The 6th Bass-Jons tournament of the year took place on the Nottaway River.  The 13 teams that fished brought ten 5-fish limits to the scales.  Many teams reported catching high numbers of fish, but the river did not give up any huge fish.  Moose and Joey Wells won the tournament weighing in 5 fish for 9 lbs – 12ozs.  The teams of Romel Soriano / James Brown (JB) and Dan Griffin / Mike Peregrine tied for big fish with a 2 lbs – 14oz “hawg”.  Overall results were better than some of the more recent tournaments held on the river.  Good job Bass-Jons!  The weather was warm and bright, and surface water temps started at 71 and were up to 86 by the end of the day.  Most members reported fish being taken on plastics, and jigs.  Some were able to find a crankbait or topwater bite.  Some reported seeing a few bass still on beds and plenty of fry with no fish guarding them.  A great day on the water and everyone caught fish!  View the full results and pictures on http://www.bassjons.com.  Top Ten:

Angler 1 Angler 2 # Fish Big Fish Total Weight
1 Carlton “Moose” Wells Joseph Wells 5 2lbs 12ozs 9lbs 12ozs
